Apayao logs P147.9M initial damage to crops due to Typhoon ‘Egay’

Luna, Apayao – Super Typhoon “Egay” wiped out about P147,900,000 worth of agricultural crops in the province of Apayao, initial report of the Provincial Agricultural Services Office showed Wednesday, July 27.


About 3,242.45 hectares of farmland have been affected, of which, 116.45 ha. are High Value Commercial Crops (HVCC), fruit trees, and vegetables, while around 3,131 ha. are corn.


The number of affected farmers is about 1,931, data revealed.

Corn damages were listed as the highest amounting to P128,391,300 million with Pudtol experiencing the biggest loss which amounts to P40,140,750 million and Flora, the least, with P7,221,450 million.


Conner, meantime, recorded a loss of P28,986,000 million, Kabugao - P8,190,000 million, Luna - P25,115,500 million, and Sta. Marcela - P20,459,000 million.


Meanwhile, the figures on agricultural loss in Calanasan are not yet received due to damage to communication networks.


It is expected that the total damage will increase once all data will be consolidated.


In response to said crisis, Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr. said that necessary work is being done to ensure that mitigating measures and proper response will be made to lessen the impact of the disaster on yApayao farmers.
