Apayao, Philippines – “Let's ride together towards a #HealthyPilipinas and a safer future for everyone on the road,” invites Apayao provincial government to local cyclists through its Provincial Information Office.
In its bid to promote road safety and a healthy lifestyle while encouraging physical activity, the Apayao government headed by Governor Elias Bulut Jr. is set to conduct a search for “Mr. and Ms. Bikers Champ for Road Safety” and vlogging contest on April 21, 2023.
The event is in line with the “Padyak para sa #HealthyPilipinas” campaign of the Department of Health.
The search, the information office said, is open to all male and female cyclists aged 18 years old and above. Participants must be residents of Apayao.
To join, aspirants must attend the Information, Education Campaign (IEC) on Road Safety from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon on April 20 at Aliwa Gymnasium, San Isidro Sur, Luna. There, cyclists shall accomplish the registration form that will be distributed by the Provincial Health Office.
The challenge will start at the Welcome Arch (Quirino) - San Isidro - Tumog - Sta. Lina - San Francisco - Dagupan - Pudtol (Welcome Arch - Cabatacan) then back to Dagupan - Shalom - San Gregorio - Payanan Grandstand.
Top bikers exemplifying safe biking behaviors and healthy lifestyles will be hailed as “Mr. and Ms. Bikers Champ for Road Safety”.
Aspiring local vloggers shall likewise accomplish the registration form from the PHO and shall cover the bike race. Contestants must interview at least one of the participating cyclists that shall become the main subject of their content.
In their entry, vloggers must include a self-introduction of the cyclist; a summary of his/her cycling journey, specifying when she/he started, a message to all bikers, and other important matters; and the cycling outfit of the cyclist, showcasing the appropriate road safety devices and equipment.
Entries must be limited to 3 to 5 minute-long and must be submitted to phoapayao@gmail.com and pdohoapayao@gmail.com on or before April 26, 2023. All vlogs will be posted on the social media accounts of Apayao LGUs for a week “to gather support from the community.”
Prizes, including criteria for the contested events, are yet to be disclosed by the office.
