Appas, Tabuk City to hold bloodletting on January 17

Appas, Tabuk City – The barangay local government unit of Appas invites its residents this January 17 for a bloodletting activity to be conducted at their Barangay Hall.


Those eligible to donate are those who weigh at least 110 pounds or 50 kilograms and above, 18 to 60 year-old, has no symptoms for at least one week of cough, runny nose, diarrhea and sore throat, hemoglobin level should be at least 125 g/L, and pulse rate must be between 60 to 100 beats per minute.


Also, those willing to donate blood should have a blood pressure of 90 to 150 systolic and 60 to 90 diastolic.


The barangay local government unit likewise reminded blood donors not to drink liquor a day before the activity.

The bloodletting activity is an annual event in the barangay aimed at ensuring that enough blood supply is available during medical and emergency needs for its constituents.


Last month, the barangay was awarded by the Philippine National Red Cross - Kalinga Chapter a certificate of appreciation ‘in grateful recognition to their unwavering support and consistent partnership in terms of Membership Accident Assistance Benefits.'
