Baguio City, Philippines – High level of artistry is being showcased in the ongoing plastic scale modeling open competition and exhibition at SM City Baguio.
Now in its 18th year, International Plastic Modelers Society (IPMS) – Baguio, joined by local officials and agencies, formally opened on Monday, June 12, its annual activity at the SM Atrium.
Scale modeling is creating miniature representations of larger subjects such as submarines, fighter jets, battleships, TV characters, and superheroes, among others. This has been a hobby to some and a stress reliever at the same time.
This week, IPMS – Baguio provided a venue for enthusiasts to display and feature their creative crafts. The organization designated an area for participating artists whose products are cars, ships, armor, Gunpla or Gundam models, hot toys, Star Wars, Revell, Science fiction, aircraft, diorama, and figures.
Trophies and prizes await winning entries.
There are also demonstrations on scale modeling being conducted, said IPMS – Baguio Secretariat Jamil Angelo Rivera.
“As much as possible, gusto naming umiwas ang kids, not just the kids but also adults sa mga bad vices so we do advise them to try scale models so it’s a hobby, it’s a pastime. It’s also something that would relax your mind, spirit, body and soul,” Rivera stated through PTV Cordillera.
Those in Baguio, including visitors and tourists, are invited to view the exhibition which will run until Sunday, June 18.
