Balbalan, Kalinga – An aspiring nurse from Ab-abaan village was crowned Miss Balbalan 2023 at the close of this year’s search KDCM Sports Center on Friday night, March 03.
Wylan Christine M. Wacdisan bested 13 other candidates to be the town’s new queen. She succeeded Miss Balbalan 2019 Racquel Caymo Bernardos.
The 19-year-old beauty was also adjudged the Darling of the Crowd, Queen of Ramp, Miss Photogenic, Miss Production, Best in Native Attire, and Best in Casual Wear.
Wacdisan, a first-year nursing student at Centro Escolar University, is no stranger to pageantry as she brought home the title of Miss Junction, Pinukpuk in 2017.
Inspired by her supporters who believed in her, she decided to try her luck in the municipal-wide search.
As preparation, she boosted her self-confidence with self-encouragement and prayers.
The result did not disappoint her supporters. The young queen shared she felt proud when the hosts announced the winner as she was able to get her village the most coveted crown for the first time.
“I am confidently part of the history… Overwhelming crowd of people makes my heart melt for being so happy at that night,” she expressed.
The new Miss Balbalan extended appreciation to all who joined her in her journey, especially to those who supported her that helped her build her confidence.
As the reigning queen, she will advocate for “Habitat for Humanity” in said town.
Settling as first runner-up in the local search was Crayven Gaye Kayyang of Barangay Talalang who was also named Miss Beauteous, Best in Evening Gown, Best in Swimsuit, and Best Pageant Besties.
Maria Aleth Nardo from Dao-angan ended her campaign as second runner-up. She was awarded Miss Fashion Smile and Miss Blessed Hope.
Rosalinda Infiel representing Balbalan Proper was crowned as Miss Tourism 2023 and Body Beautiful, while Alana Layugan of Gawaan was named Miss Environment 2023.
