Balbalan holds first-ever Sports Festival for their youth studying in Tabuk City by holding activities at where they are

Balbalan, Kalinga – Even when they are 52 kilometers away from home, the Local Government Unit of Balbalan makes ways to make the iBalbalan youth who are in Tabuk City feel included and valued by bringing activities to them.

On September 27 – 28, the Balbalan LGU headed by Mayor Almar Malannag hosted their first-ever Balbalan Student Organization (BSO) – Tabuk Chapter Sports Festival, which brought together the youngsters of Balbalan who are currently studying in Tabuk City.

The event was held at the Balbalan Dorm in Bulanao and in Dagupan West, where more than a hundred youth participated and played in volleyball and basketball events.

Mayor Malannag said that the event was initiated by the LGU as they want their young people who are currently studying in the province’s capital not to feel left out from the youth activities in the municipality as most of the times they cannot afford to go home and attend events due to their studies.

The event was also made possible to provide an avenue for them to socialize and get to know one another.

“Pinagsasabat tayo da isuda through daytoy Sportsfest ta kayat tayo ipakita nga dagitoy taga Balbalan nga adda Tabuk nga agus-uskwela ket haan da maiyaw-awan. Uray adda da outside Balbalan, adda tayo latta nga mang-alalalay kanyada,” the Mayor said.

Malannag, meantime, reminded the participants the importance of fostering camaraderie and of being each other’s rock by assisting one another while they are away from home.
