Balbalan, Kalinga – The economy in Balbalan continues to improve in 2025 – a testament to this is the municipality’s recent recognition for sourcing the highest local revenue last year among the municipalities in Kalinga.

On March 5, 2026, the Balbalan Municipal Local Government Unit was cited by the provincial government as Top 1 in Locally Sourced Revenue. This indicates superior tax collection efficiency and fiscal independence as the town generated the highest amount of income from its own sources such as real property taxes, business taxes, fees, and charges. It likewise shows the town’s excellent financial management as it reduces dependence on national tax allotments.

Other citations received by the municipality on the same day include being Top 1 in Real Property Tax Collection Compliance and Strategies; Top 2 in Real Property Tax Collection Performance; Top 3 in Collection Efficiency; and Top 3 in Real Property Tax Transfer Tax Collection.

The plaques were received by Mayor Almar Malannag and Municipal Treasurer Leonore Gunday at the Kalinga Sports Center in Bulanao, Tabuk City.

With the awards the LGU has been receiving recently, Mayor Malannag has once again expressed his appreciation to every employee of the Balbalan Municipal LGU for continuously working tirelessly to serve the people of Balbalan.

“Dagitoy nga awards nga mare-receive tayo iti Balbalan ket testament iti agtul-tuloy nga panagmaymaysa iti Balbalan para iti panag-progresso iti ili tayo. Isu nga agpasalamat nak kadagiti chief of offices ken staff tayo iti LGU iti kinagaget da nga ag-trabaho, ken i-acknowledge tayo met lang iti cooperation dagiti 14 nga barangays ken iti umili. Talaga nga adu iti maaramid tayo ken mas agprogreso iti maysa nga ili nu agmaymaysa iti amin,” Malannag expressed.
