Balbalan sends aspiring teacher for Miss Kalinga 2023 pageant



Balbalan, Kalinga - Miss Balbalan 2018 first runner-up, Charlene Gaano Wanason will be representing the municipality of Balbalan in the Miss Kalinga 2023 pageant.


Miss Kalinga 2023 pageant serves as an outlet for voices and a platform for important issues that aims to uplift different sectors of society. It is one of the main highlights of the celebration of the 28th Kalinga Founding Anniversary and the 4th Bodong Festival.

Wanason, standing 5’4 and with vital statistics of 35.5, 31, 38.5, is among the 16 official candidates who will vie for the Miss Kalinga crown.


Through said pageant, the 21-year-old beauty who hails from Barangay Maling is committed to empowering the youth to bring changes in the community.

“I will show my ability in empowering the youth, especially the underprivileged and marginalized ones to help bring out a change in the community, to engage in social works, and to promote Kalinga tourism and culture,” she expressed.

“Additionally, it adds to my exposure to the public. Most importantly, such platform offers grand opportunity for an aspiring youth like me to showcase my talent, unique beauty of character and physical aspect,” she added.


She is a fourth-year student taking up Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at Kalinga State University.


Meantime, the local government of Balbalan headed by Mayor Almar Malannag is ready to sponsor her needs in the pageant.
