Barangay Captain in Abra shot dead, three years after ambush

Abra, Philippines – Exactly three years after surviving an ambush, the Punong Barangay of Angad, Bangued, Abra was shot dead at 5:55 PM on April 27, 2022, at the barangay covered court in their area.

Authorities identified the victim as a certain Ronnie Bringas, 45, married, and a resident of said barangay.

Initial investigation states that the victim was at the covered court to check the basketball tournament when he was shot by an unidentified male assailant.

The suspect who was seen wearing a black jacket, black cap, and a black tube mask tried to escape using his Rusi Delta 125 motorcycle but crashed on the roadside.

He then left his motorcycle and run towards Barangay Lipcan.

Bystanders tried grabbing the suspect but backed off when he drew his firearm.

Police recovered a shell of Caliber .45 at the crime scene.

Further investigation is ongoing to determine the identity of the suspect and his motive for killing the village official.
