Body of 24-yr.-old man found floating two days after motorcycle accident

Updated: Dec 27, 2023

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Two days after a 24-year-old man was involved in a road accident, his body was found floating in the Pinacanauan River near the Capatan Bridge on Monday, December 25.

The victim, Nino Fuentes III, was said to have fallen off his motorcycle and plunged into the river within the Capatan Overflow Bridge in Tuguegarao City over the weekend.

According to the police investigation, the victim, before the accident, was heading home from Tanza where he got his phone left in a fast-food chain in the area.

Since his motorcycle’s headlight was not functional, this might have caused him to miscalculate his driving while at the bridge and lose control of the steering wheel, resulting in the accident, police said.

After the recovery of his motorcycle, a search operation was immediately conducted by the Water Safety, Rescue, and Survival Techniques (WASAR) of the city government and the Philippine Coast Guard.

On December 23, the team found a woman’s cadaver while searching for Fuentes. However, the identity of the body was not yet established, but it was said to be a 50-year-old woman who was a resident of Larion Alto.

Fuentes' body, on the other hand, was found on the second day of the search, rescue, and retrieval operation.

According to the Police, Fuentes was found by his father who assisted in the search operation.
