Pinukpuk, Kalinga – Following a two-day search and rescue operation, the body of the elderly man who went missing after he fell into a creek and was carried away by raging waters over the weekend was found Monday, October 31, 2022.

The body of the victim identified as Severino Lumacday,61, was found by the Kalinga Search and Rescue Team at around 11 AM along the Chico River in Sitio Calbayan, Catabbogan, Pinukpuk.

Pinukpuk police said he was positively identified by his relatives.

His remains were brought to the TAMPCO Funeral.

As recalled, Lumacday was heading home from Centro Balantoy while Typhoon Paeng battered the area with rains when he fell off a cliff and tumbled down into a creek connecting to Saltan River.

Police report said he was hit by a falling rock resulting in the incident.

In an earlier interview with GURU Press Cordillera, Caren Manait of MDRRMO Balbalan said the incident happened at the boundary of Sitio Kilayon and Sitio Ligayan.

Barangay officials of Balantoy immediately conducted a search and rescue operation on the same date but was put on hold due to nonstop rains and strong winds.

Search and rescue operation resumed on October 30, but he was found a day later.
