Bontoc, Mt. Province grateful for Kalinga LGU’s donation to fire victims


Bontoc, Mt. Province – The municipality of Bontoc expressed gratitude to the Kalinga provincial government led by Governor James Edduba for its check donation intended for the fire victims.


At 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, a fire broke out at Sitio Loc-ong in Barangay Poblacion of Bontoc, razing the 32 establishments and houses, and causing the 114 affected individuals to lose their homes and belongings.

The affected families temporarily sheltered at the Sibley Hall, All Saints Mission Compound, Poblacion, Bontoc have been receiving cash and in-kind donations from generous people.


One of the donors is Kalinga LGU. Governor Edduba on Tuesday said P100,000 will be donated to the victims from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management fund.


This Thursday, Provincial Assessor Jeffrey L. Uyam and Consultant for Culture and the Arts Mauricio E. Patongao of the Office of the Governor delivered the check and handed said amount to Bontoc Mayor and Chairperson of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) Jerome Tudlong Jr.


Responsible Official of the Emergency Operations Center and Assistant Municipal Treasurer Mellicynth Diohen Yodong, Mt. Province Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr., Provincial Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative Tomas Tawagen, and other personnel of the local government were there to witness the turnover.


As of 3 p.m. today, a total of P653,081 has been downloaded to the Bontoc LGU’s account as a donation to the fire victims.

Those willing to donate in kind may bring their donations to the tent set up at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol grounds for proper accounting and distribution.


For cash donations, hand them over to the Bontoc Emergency Operations Center located across the street from Tchayapan Restaurant. A Republic of the Philippines Official Receipt (OR) will be issued to you by a staff of the Municipal Treasury Office.


Cash donations may also be sent to the LGU-Bontoc Landbank through its account number: 1042-1004-27 with LGU-Bontoc as the account name.
