Lubuagan, Kalinga – After months of cultural mapping, documenting, and data validation, the Lubuagan Local Cultural Profile - Book 1 was finally published and is now available at the Municipal Tourism Section of the Municipal Mayor’s Office Capitol Hills, Poblacion, Lubuagan.

Book mapping Lubuagan’s culture is a project of the local tourism section, in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) that contains 100 cultural resources and heritage properties of the municipality.

Why pursue Lubuagan Local Cultural Profile - Book 1?

Tourism Officer Ansherina Odiem-Mosing, in an earlier report, relayed that they began mapping and documenting the municipality's cultural profile following the approval of their request from the NCCA.

The main aim was to trace and compile information regarding the municipality’s local heritage.

The tourism section, on its social media account, further said the common observation that added to their drive in pursuing the profile book is that ‘most of the youth in the locality are unaware of their culture, while some locals are misinformed cultural resources due to inaccessibility and disparity of information.

“Only few cultural resources and heritage properties of the Municipality of Lubuagan were documented up to this date, in spite of the numerous accounts that highlight Lubuagan for its rich culture, significant history, and vibrant nature,” added the office.

The team commenced mapping in December 2021 and concluded in June 2022. Data validation and finalization followed before its publication.

The local tourism expressed gratitude ‘to everyone who contributed to the success of the pilot implementation’ of the project.

Meanwhile, former municipal Mayor Charisma Anne Dickpus who supported the endeavor is delighted with the book publication and wished for it to be preserved.
