“Booster shots now available in Kalinga” - PHO




Tabuk City, Kalinga - Fully vaccinated adults in Kalinga may now avail of the booster shots or additional doses as announced by Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Edward Tandingan earlier today, December 3.


Following the national guidelines released by the Department of Health on Thursday, those who received Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Moderna as their primary vaccines may avail for the same brand of COVID-19 vaccine or homologous doses.


Homologous shots for Janssen and Sputnik V are not yet available.


Meanwhile, mixed brand or heterologous doses could be administered as booster shots. According to DOH, AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Moderna vaccines could be administered for those who were inoculated with Sinovac, Janssen, and Sputnik V.

Moderna and Pfizer may be given to those vaccinated with AstraZeneca; Moderna and AstraZeneca for those with Pfizer; and Pfizer and AstraZeneca for those inoculated with Moderna.


Booster shot eligibility and availability


According to Dr. Tandingan, the eligibility for the booster shot is at least six months after completion of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine.


“For Janssen vaccinees, after 3 months completion,” added the Provincial Health Officer.


The local government units, Dr. Tandingan said, may have different starting dates depending on vaccine availability. Schedules for booster shots will be posted by the LGUs.


As of December 1, 109,165 individuals, or 70% of the 155,095-target population in the province, already received their first dose.
