Apayao, Philippines – "Sort na natin mga isolated areas para chopper na lang."

Governor Elias Bulut Jr. said this as he ordered government offices and agencies to expedite the delivery of relief and rehabilitation to areas devastated by Super Typhoon “Egay”, especially to isolated ones in Apayao.

With the impact of the super typhoon, the province was badly hit. Some towns still have no electricity as the restoration efforts were temporarily suspended due to strong winds and rising water levels.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office through the Provincial Information Office relayed 375 individuals or 102 families from Luna, Pudtol, Conner and Calanasan evacuated with “Egay's” threat.

There may be additional cases but remain unreported due to their distance.

Some houses in Barangay Mataguisi, Pudtol were further submerged by flood which likewise affected large swathes of land in the area.

Despite the situation, Bulut assured help is on the way.

Initial assistance amounting to P147,079 had been distributed to those affected. The aid includes food packs, hygiene kits, sleeping kits, family kits, and the like.

Additional assistance will be given promptly with the governor directing personnel of various offices to determine isolated areas.

Bulut said he will schedule a chopper to deliver needed assistance once the weather gets better and all isolated areas are identified.

Also, he asked concerned personnel to assist in the immediate delivery of 10,000 food packs and other relief goods that are set to be delivered in the province.
