Bus incurred P5M damages after it catches fire in Tuguegarao


Tuguegarao, Cagayan – The bus that caught fire while traversing the Maharlika Highway at Zone 5, Namabbalan Sur, Tuguegarao City on Sunday, November 19, incurred damages amounting to P5 million.


The said cost of damage on the bus unit is based on the declaration of JD Dalin Transport Inc. Management.


The bus came from Baguio City and was ferrying nine passengers when the right rear wheel of the bus exploded.

Upon parking, its driver, Edwin Asuncion, 48, a resident of Bantug, Roxas, saw the rear tire was already on fire, urging him to instruct passengers to alight from the vehicle, saving them from the fire incident and their belongings.


Moments later, massive flames and smoke were visible rising from the bus which was extinguished later by the personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection in Tuguegarao.


The driver, along with other passengers, has already made their affidavit on the incident.


Authorities now await other passengers of the bus to give their statements on the incident as part of their investigation.


Meanwhile, BFP-Tuguegarao stated the bus fire was the first of its kind to ever happen in the city.
