Cagayan, Philippines – The Cagayan Valley region has the highest number of enrollees in the Philippines this school year 2021-2022 with 916,390 enrollees. This is according to Learners Information System Quick Count of the Department of Education.

Through the Cagayan Provincial Information Office, DepEd Region II Director Benjamin Paragas says that the number of enrollees this school year increased by 0.17 % as compared to the 914, 822 enrollees in the previous school year.

In the Region, it was said that Nueva Vizcaya and Isabela province have the highest number of new enrollees.

This, according to Paragas, is because of the DepEd’s continuous encouragement to parents to enroll their children despite the challenges of the covid-19 pandemic.

The enrollment of the learners for this school year ended this September 30, 2021.

Meanwhile, while the blended learning approach was adopted to help learners’ cope with the educational requirements amidst the pandemic, Paragas disclosed that there is no alleged case of “Online Kopyahan” of learners in region 2.

In line with this, the DepEd appealed to the parents, teachers, and learners to avoid online cheating practices because it reduces the quality of education.

Meantime, unstable internet connectivity and number of self-learning modules were some of the problems that were faced by the DepEd. However, despite of these circumstances, the department was able to cope and resolve the situation through the Divisions Offices of DepEd region II.

Recently, pilot testing of limited “face-to-face” classes in 100 public schools and 20 private schools has been approved by President Rodrigo Duterte.
