Writer: Leonora Lo-oyLeonora Lo-oy

Tabuk City, Kalinga – While racket and team sports were not included in the April 2023 Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) meet in Baguio City, it’s now the turn for athletes playing said games to showcase their skills in the regional meet.

The CARAA meet was held from April 29 – May 1 but back then, team and racket events were not part of the games played by the different delegations.

For this reason, young athletes playing team and racket games in the region were originally scheduled to play with one another on May 26 – 28. However, due to Typhoon Betty, it was moved to June 2 -4 as per Department of Education Cordillera Regional Memorandum 235 - 2023.

Events will be held in the different provinces and cities in the region.

Softball will be played in Tabuk City; baseball and sepak takraw in Mountain Province; basketball and volleyball, Apayao; football, Benguet; and racket games such as table tennis and badminton will be held in Baguio City.

Participating athletes will be interviewed on the morning of June 2, 2023.

The outcome of said events is said to have no bearing on the results of the 2023 CARAA meet held in Baguio City in April.
