Cordillera crime rate dropped 13% in 2021

Tabuk City, Kalinga – In a report by the Cordillera Police during the first Regional Peace and Order Council meeting this year held on February 17, 2022, Police data showed 13 percent decline in crimes in 2021 compared to 2020.


According to the data, as reported by Philippine Information Agency Cordillera, there was a total of 3,085 crime incidents documented from January to December 2021.


Said figure is lower by 13% from the 3,531 total recorded crime incidents in 2020.


Of the 3,085 cases, 555 were identified as index crimes or crimes which are committed against a person and property. This includes murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping, and cattle rustling.

Also, 1,679 wanted individuals, of which 400 are in the top most wanted list, were arrested last year. Additionally, 541 drug personalities were also nabbed during anti-illegal drugs operations.


Moreover, around P1.57 billion worth of illegal drugs have been confiscated in the Cordillera region last year.

Meantime, crime incidents in the entire country also dropped by 14% in 2021 with 37,626 incidents recorded. The figure is also lower by 71.42% compared to the 131,685 crimes documented in 2016
