TABUK CITY, Kalinga — Residents of Barangay Lacnog in Tabuk City now have easier access to basic healthcare services following the inauguration of a new Barangay Health Station (BHS) in the community.

Located near the barangay hall in Purok 1, the facility is expected to provide residents with convenient access to basic health services and assistance from health workers, particularly for families who may otherwise need to travel farther for medical attention.

For Barangay Captain Joel L. Alunday, the new health station represents an important step toward making healthcare more accessible to the community.

In an interview with Guru Press Cordillera, Alunday expressed gratitude to the City Government of Tabuk and everyone who contributed to the establishment of the facility.

“Healthcare should be within reach of every family. Ket dakkel yaman mi ditoy naipatakder nga Barangay Health Station tayo ta haanen kasapulan ti constituents tayo agbiahe pailang ti adayo nu agseek iti health assistance,” Alunday said.

He said the facility will help lessen the burden on residents who need basic health assistance, particularly those who may find it difficult to travel outside the barangay.

“On behalf of the Barangay Local Government Unit, we want to express our thanks to the Local Government of Tabuk. We are grateful to everyone who helped make this health station a reality,” he added.

Health needs a priority

Alunday emphasized that the BHS is more than just an additional structure in the barangay, saying it reflects the community’s commitment to ensuring that residents can access basic healthcare services closer to home.

He assured residents that the barangay government will continue coordinating with the city government and health workers to address the community’s health needs.

“The health needs of our constituents ket maysa nga priority tayo. I assure you that we will do our best as barangay officials tapno ma-address tayo and maited tayo kanyada ti pagsayaatan,” he said.

According to Alunday, the establishment of the health station is a result of cooperation among the barangay, city government and other offices.

“Babaen ti panagtitinulong tayo and support ti higher offices, ket adatoyen ti maysa nga bunga—daytoy health station tayo,” he added.

Residents urged to use facility

Alunday also encouraged residents to make use of the facility whenever they need basic health assistance and to approach the health workers assigned to the station.

He said residents should first seek assistance at the BHS whenever their health concerns can be addressed there, instead of immediately traveling to facilities farther from the community.

“Kadagiti kakailyan, encouraged ko suda nga umay da latta ditoy nu kasapulan da. Nu la ketdi kaya ti health station tayo iprovide ket maited, kesa mapan da pailang adayo,” he said.

For Alunday, the new BHS is a concrete example of what can be achieved when local officials, health workers and higher government offices work together toward a common goal—bringing essential services closer to the people.
