Tabuk City, Kalinga – The need for continued unity among the iKalingas in preserving peace and sustaining development was underscored by Tanudan Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag during the province’s declaration under the State of Stable Internal Peace and Security (SSIPS) earlier this week.

Speaking before government officials, uniformed personnel, and fellow iKalingas during the historic event, Dagadag described Kalinga’s transition into an insurgency-free province as the result of strong cooperation between the government and the communities.

He emphasized that lasting peace and development can only be achieved when everyone remains united and actively works together for the common good.

“This momentous ceremony is a testament and a reminder to all of us that long-lasting peace is the foundation of progress… May this conferment inspire us to continue building a province where peace and development walk hand in hand and where every community prospers in harmony and hope. Daytoy ti bunga nu adda ti panagmaymaysa tayo. Sunga ituloy tayo koma nga agmaymaysa,” said Dagadag.

Dagadag, who also serves as president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Kalinga Chapter, likewise commended his fellow local leaders, led by Governor James Edduba as the father of the province, as well as the security forces and communities for their relentless efforts that helped make Kalinga insurgency-free.

The mayor then reaffirmed the commitment of the Tanudan Local Government Unit to sustaining peace and stability in the province.

“Together, we pledge to sustain peace, strengthen collaboration and participatory governance, and empower every Kalinga citizen to contribute to a brighter, more secure future,” Dagadag added.

In recognition of the LGU’s vital role in Kalinga’s peace campaign, Tanudan was conferred the Seal of SSIPS by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Provincial Government of Kalinga, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), and the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) during the event.

According to the DILG, the seal is a formal recognition awarded to provinces or municipalities in the country that have successfully neutralized insurgent threats and achieved a high level of peace and stability.
