Rizal, Kalinga – Department of Budget and Management (DBM) through the Provincial Local Government of Kalinga has released the P20,000,000 fund granted to Babalag East, Rizal by the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) through its Support to Barangay Development Program (BDP).

The amount is part of the P16-billion budget provided for the 822 barangays across the country which have been declared free from the influence of communist-terrorist groups (CTG).

Babalag East is one among the eight lucky barangays in the region to receive the said amount expected to be used for impact projects. Aside from Babalag East, other identified beneficiaries in the region are the Barangays of Bayabas, Buanao, Dulao, Duldulao, Ud-udiao in Malibcong and Barangay Naguilian in Salapadan in the province of Abra, and Barangay Tamboan in Besao, Mt. Province.

The three major projects in the area include the P3 million worth water system for Purok 3, P2 million-worth health center building and the P15 million worth concreting of the Barroga-Baggas road with box culvert. These were identified among priority projects listed during the barangay development plan enhancement held by the barangay in October last year.

NTF-ELCAC Vice-Chairperson Secretary Hermogenes Esperon Jr., Department of Agriculture Secretary William Dar, Department of Interior and Local Government Undersecretary Marlo Iringan, representatives from DILG-CAR and local officials in the province are expected to grace the projects’ ground breaking ceremony scheduled Monday, May 24, 2021.

The NTF-ELCAC fund is provided by the government for development projects like farm to market roads, classrooms, electrification projects, communal irrigation projects, health centers, and water systems.
