DILG Sec. Abalos conferred Kalinga ‘pangat’ title, named ‘Ammogawon’

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary, Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. is now under the protection of the umbrella of the Bodong Justice System after he was officially adopted as son of Kalinga.


Abalos came to Tabuk City, Kalinga on June 14 to personally grace the region-wide Buhay Ingatan, Droga'y Ayawan (BIDA) Anniversary Celebration at the Kalinga Sports Center.


The secretary was the province’s guest of honor and speaker. The province adopted him through the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution no. 2024-163.


He was conferred the title ‘pangat’ which means a leader, and was named ‘Ammogawon’ in acknowledgement of his outstanding leadership and services for the people.


Touched by the gesture, Abalos expressed he was ‘honored beyond words’ and pledged he will carry with him the values and wisdom of an yKalinga.  


“I am deeply grateful to our friends here, to the elders, to the leaders of Kalinga, for bestowing upon me this honor, for your trust and acceptance, you have my dedication to serve you with integrity, respect, and unwavering commitment,” he said.
