DOH – CAR urges parents to have their babies vaccinated against polio and measles

Baguio City, Philippines – The Department of Health – Cordillera urged the parents and guardians to let their children avail of the vaccines against polio, measles, hepatitis B, pneumonia, and other vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs).


DOH - CAR Health Education and Promotion Officer III, Patrick Pineda through the regional Philippine Information Agency said the vaccination which targets zero to 23 months will be conducted on Thursday and Friday of May and June (May 26-27, June 23-24).


The 'Chikiting Bakunation Days' or the National Vaccination for Routine and Catch-up Immunization was launched following the report of DOH Epidemiology Bureau showing the increase of measles in all regions of the country in 2021.


Dr. Joannah Boralio, Medical Officer III of the National Immunization Program, earlier stressed the possibility of a measles outbreak if not given proper attention.
