DPWH turns over P34.3-M School Building to Malagnat NHS in Pinukpuk

Pinukpuk, Kalinga — Students and teachers of Malagnat National High School in Pinukpuk, Kalinga, now have improved spaces for learning and teaching following the inauguration of a newly constructed school building worth more than P34 million last week.

Inaugurated on May 15, 2026, the new building was constructed to improve the learning conditions of students while also providing teachers with better classrooms for the delivery of education in the school.

In information shared with Guru Press Cordillera by District Engineer Ruby A. Uyam of the Department of Public Works and Highways–Lower Kalinga District Engineering Office (DPWH-LKDEO), a total of P34,316,235.56 was allocated for the construction of the three-story building.

The project was funded by the national government through the DPWH. Alongside the school building project were the construction of two bridges in Lacnog and Nambaran, Tabuk City, which were funded with P47,810,830.71 and P39,449,861.27, respectively.

In a Facebook post, Malagnat National High School expressed gratitude to those behind the realization of the new building, describing it as a reflection of the support extended by local officials and concerned agencies.

According to the school, the newly built facility is not only a structure but also a symbol of hope and opportunity for learners and the entire community.

“This achievement reflects the collective efforts of everyone who believed in the vision of providing a better learning environment for every Malagnat learner. The new building stands not only as a structure but also as a symbol of hope, opportunity, and a brighter future for the entire community. Thank you to everyone who became part of this historic milestone for Malagnat National High School,” the school expressed.

Malagnat National High School is a public secondary educational institution located in Barangay Malagnat, Pinukpuk. Originally serving as an extension of Camalog National High School, it was officially converted into an independent national high school in 2018 under Republic Act No. 10993.
