Drug arrests in Kalinga increased over 100% in 2020

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Drug arrests for the violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 for the year 2020 increased for more than 100% in Kalinga Province, according to the data of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office.


There are 65 individuals who were arrested for illegal drugs in 2020 wherein 39 are for pushing, 25 for possession, and 1 for using. Most of them were arrested in a buy-bust and illegal drugs operations.


Additionally, 63 are males, while 2 are females. Of the 65, 2 of them are minors. In these 65 cases, 64 are cleared and 61 are solved.


In 2019, there were only 31 cases recorded.


Kalinga PNP said while this seems alarming, it also means the police are doing their job in arresting criminals.


Over 408M Worth of Marijuana destroyed



Meanwhile, a total of P408,680,000.00 worth of Marijuana plants, seedlings, leaves, stalks, hashish, and seeds were destroyed on-site in all MJ eradications in Kalinga in 2020.


Said dangerous drugs board value (DDB) is higher compared to the DDB of eradicated Marijuana in 2019 which amounts to P286,154,000.


The eradication activities were done in Tinglayan and in Tabuk City.
