Tinglayan expects to be Covid-free soon; only 4 active cases left

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Tinglayan Mayor Sacrament Gumilab in a phone interview today, January 5,2020 said he is expecting his jurisdiction to be free from the Covid-19 virus as soon as the remaining 8 active cases in the municipality recover.


Out of the 8 active cases, 4 patients are to move out today and the remaining numbers will leave their barangay isolation units on the 2nd week of this month.

Said patients are from Barangays Upper Bangad, Centro Bangad and Luplupa.


As of this writing, Tinglayan has recorded a total of 206 confirmed positive cases. 198 of these have already recovered.


During the interview, Gumilab said the lockdown which was imposed prior to the holiday seasons contributed a lot in stopping the surge of the virus. The lockdown was a total of 15 days. It was later lifted on December 22,2020.


Gumilab further stated that contact tracing ceased as it was no longer needed.

“Awanen ti contact tracing nga mapaspasamak, ti banbantayan mi lang ket dagity returning residents, kasla diay maysa nga nagpositive, returning resident diyay,” Gumilab said

When asked regarding their plans in avoiding another surge of the virus, the mayor said he emphasized that returning residents must follow the guidelines in entering the municipality.


“Nu adda sumangpet nga LSI, sabaten mi dita CARAA ground, nu sumangpet dattuy ayan tayu maipan da iti quarantine area, maswab da ket nu agnegative da, idiay da balay da nga aghome quarantine ngem nu agpostive da, isolation units ti pagyanan da kasta metlang ti proseso kadagidiay aggapu idiay Mountain Province,” he said.


“Kasdiay iti mangyari tapnu han da nga mailauk iti community tapnu atleast ket nu agpositive da man, awanen ti contacts nga daddum ta aagyan da lang idiay isolation area,” he added.


The mayor encouraged his constituents to continue following the protocols.

As to the celebration of the holidays, the mayor said it was over-all peaceful and merry though it was only celebrated by his constituents in their homes with their immediate members.
