‘Even a single leaf can destroy life” - Kalinga PD Domallig’s take on marijuana

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Kalinga Police Provincial Director Charles Domallig asserted that marijuana plants could destroy one’s future especially the youth who are more vulnerable to become victims of illegal drugs.

The director made the statement at a convention with the national line agencies, Tinglayan Local Government Unit and the elders for a dialogue and consultation on October 20, 2022.

Marijuana was said to have been introduced in Tinglayan in the late 70s, allegedly by foreigners. It was said that since then, some people in some areas started cultivating the ‘green gold’ as their source of livelihood.

“Daytoy nga problema even if it involves a single leaf ket madadael na ti masakbayan ti maysa a tao especially dagitoy ubbing tayo ta isu da ti susceptible victims,” he said.

The Kalinga Police Provincial Director noted that the people should not allow Tinglayan and even Kalinga to be recognized nationally or internationally due to the presence of marijuana.

“Haan tayo nga ipalubos nga ti Tinglayan wenno Kalinga ket mabigbigbig nationally or even internationally because of this poison,” he stressed.

With the result of the dialogue and consultation meeting, Domallig hopes that it will pave a way for a better way of life for cultivators to leave the illegal cultivation of weeds.
