Farmers dump tons of tomatoes due to oversupply

Benguet, Philippines – Another concerning scenario of tomatoes being discarded along the roadside was shared by Rural Rising Philippines (RuRi).

According to the farmers’ group advocate, tomato farmers from Tinoc, Ifugao; Kabayan and Atok, Benguet; and Dupax Del Norte in Nueva Vizcaya have resorted to throwing away four tons of their crops on Tuesday due to oversupply.

“Sayang ang pagkain, sayang ang pinag-paguran, sobrang sakit ang kawalan,” RuRi wrote in its social media post.

Four tons or over 3,500 kilograms of tomatoes have been dumped, said the socio-agricultural enterprise.

To help the distressed farmers, RuRi is calling consumers to buy the unsold produce.

The tomatoes sell at P349 for 10 kilos. To order, click https://bit.ly/TomatoRescue-RRPH.
