FIVE years straight: Balbalan earns once again Good Financial Housekeeping Citation

Balbalan, Kalinga – The Municipality of Balbalan has once again been recognized for its sound financial management after earning the 2025 Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) Passer Citation, marking its fifth consecutive year of receiving the prestigious recognition.


The Good Financial Housekeeping award is one of the highest recognitions given to local government units that demonstrate compliance with government accounting and auditing standards, as well as transparency and accountability in the management of public funds.


Balbalan has consistently received the GFH citation since 2021, reflecting the municipality's sustained commitment to responsible fiscal governance.


Mayor Almar Malannag said the recognition is a testament to the collective efforts of local officials, department heads, and municipal employees in maintaining high standards of public service.


“With this recognition, it reflects the dedication of our local government officials and department heads with all the employees ta kayat mi amin nga i-uphold ken i-sustain tayo iti highest standards of transparency, accountability, ken responsible nga panag-manage iti public funds idiay Balbalan,” he said.


Malannag emphasized that public funds must be managed responsibly and translated into programs, projects, and services that directly benefit the people.


The mayor also expressed hope that the latest recognition would inspire local government workers to continue serving with integrity and dedication.
