Former Kalinga Governor, Atty. Duguiang passes away

Tabuk City, Kalinga - The province of Kalinga mourns with the passing of former Governor, Atty. Macario Duguiang this October 3, 2021. He was 72.


According to one of his relatives, the death of Duguiang was caused by a COVID-19 related illness.


Duguiang served as a Mayor of Lubuagan from 1978 to 1986 and was appointed as Regional Director of Department of Transportation and Communication from 1990 to 1998 before he took office as a Governor in the province from July 1, 2001, to June 30, 2004.


The former governor chaired the Philippine Red Cross-Kalinga Chapter before his passing and was supposed to turn 73 this October 22.

“We are saddened with the passing of our compassionate and active Chairman of Board of Directors Atty. Macario Duguiang, who served as a volunteer that provided guidance as governing body and action towards humanitarian assistance. Prayers for his family,” the chapter posted through its page.


Other known elders of the province have also taken to facebook their grief and sadness of the untimely passing of the former governor, with many recalling the good old days and the many contributions of Atty. Duguiang.
