Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Every beauty queen dreams of wearing a crown. For Thea Samantha Lacanlalay, however, the next chapter of her journey is about carrying something even greater—the pride of Tuguegarao City and the hopes of the entire province of Cagayan onto the international stage.
This August, the reigning Miss Elite Global Philippines 2026 will represent the country at the Miss Elite Global pageant in Jakarta, Indonesia, where delegates from more than 30 countries are expected to gather from August 22 to 29.
For Lacanlalay, the competition is more than a quest for an international title. It is an opportunity to introduce Cagayan's culture, values, and the resilience of Filipino women to a global audience while continuing the Philippines' impressive legacy in the pageant.
The country enters the competition as the defending champion, having captured back-to-back Miss Elite Global crowns in 2024 and 2025, raising expectations for another strong Philippine performance.
Established in 2021, Miss Elite Global has steadily grown into an international beauty competition that goes beyond glamour by promoting cultural exchange, women's empowerment, leadership, and social responsibility. Contestants are encouraged to champion meaningful advocacies while serving as ambassadors of their respective countries and cultures.
Unlike traditional beauty contests that focus primarily on physical elegance, Miss Elite Global places strong emphasis on communication, advocacy, confidence, and the ability of delegates to inspire positive change in their communities.
A journey built one crown at a time
Lacanlalay's road to the international stage began in her hometown when she captured the Miss Tuguegarao 2024 crown.
She later represented the city in Miss Universe Philippines 2025, where she gained valuable experience competing alongside some of the country's finest beauty queens.
Winning the Miss Elite Global Philippines 2026 title has now opened another door—one that allows her to compete on the world stage while carrying not only the Philippine flag but also the identity and aspirations of her home province.
Her international bid also reflects the growing prominence of Cagayan in Philippine pageantry.
Earlier this year, Ballesteros native Rina Andrea Delos Santos was crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2026, further strengthening the province's reputation as a home of beauty queens who excel not only in pageantry but also in promoting meaningful causes.
As Lacanlalay prepares for Jakarta, she brings with her more than gowns and sashes. She carries the story of Tuguegarao, the pride of Cagayan, and the hopes of Filipinos eager to see another homegrown queen shine on the international stage.
