Baguio City, Philippines – Ready your application for the search for 2023 Best Tourism Village in Cordillera!
In February, the Hapao – Baang – Nungulunan Clustered Tourism Village of Hungduan, Ifugao emerged as the grand winner for the search, thus taking home P1 million cash prize.
The Department of Tourism – Cordillera announced on Friday, July 21, that the search is once again on for the emerging and existing villages from the vibrant provinces Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mt. Province.
Now on its second round since the agency’s first launching in Dec. 2022, the search ‘aims to empower communities by involving them directly in efforts to enhance preparedness and sustainability in their tourism practices.’
It is by participating in this initiative that the tourism villages can seize opportunities for economic growth and improve their overall welfare, help promote the region and strengthen its position as a haven for ecological and sustainable tourism activities, added the tourism department in the region.
As for the application process, eligibilities, criteria for judging, and mechanics, the proponent agency is yet to provide specific details but will post “very soon”.
“Hurry and get ready! Exciting prizes await this year’s winners!” expressed DOT – Cordillera as it invites owners of tourism villages in the region to join.
