Guru Press staff robbed at gunpoint in Ipil, Tabuk

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A staff of Guru Press Cordillera was held at gunpoint by two unidentified men who took her motorcycle Saturday morning, April 16, 2022, in Barangay Ipil.

The staff narrated that she was traversing the road in Barangay Ipil going to Dagupan around 7:00 AM. When she was at the old Police Substation in the said barangay, she was cut off by two riders in tinted helmets. One was wearing a gray sweater while the other was in a black jacket.


The one in gray pointed a handgun to her head, ordering her to get down from her motorcycle - XRM Honda 125, dominantly black with a mix of red.


She pleaded to at least get her cellphone from the motorcycle but the suspect with a gun pushed her to the ground before taking her motorcycle.

When the two suspects sped off with the victim’s vehicle and their getaway motorcycle, she shouted for help while pointing at the speeding men. She recounted that two individuals who were riding a motorcycle saw her and immediately chased the suspects.


The staff lost her cellphone, two ATM cards, P2,500 cash, and other important documents which are all placed inside the motorcycle’s compartment.

Initial investigation of the police


According to the police, around 8:30 in the morning, two individuals appeared at the Bulanao Police Substation to report a carnapping incident in Barangay Ipil.


The two told the authorities that they were onboard a motorcycle and they happened to be at the place of incident to campaign for their political bet when they saw a lady shouting for help and pointing at the speeding motorcycles.

They then chased the fleeing suspects and when they were about to catch them in Sitio Maledda, Ipil, one of the suspects who was onboard the stolen motorcycle stopped and fired his gun towards them.


The suspects were said to have left their getaway motorcycle and used the stolen one to escape and went in the direction of Barangay Bulo.


Acting on the report, police investigators proceeded to Sitio Maledda where they discovered the suspects’ getaway vehicle and three fired cartridge case of Caliber .45.

Recovered empty shells will be submitted to the Kalinga Provincial Crime Laboratory Office and the recovered getaway motorcycle will be coordinated to the Land Transportation Office for the identity of the owner.


The police are still conducting a hot pursuit operation for the possible arrest of the two suspects.
