Tuba, Benguet – The body of a man listed as a high-value individual by the police was found in a 250-meter-deep ravine in Poyopoy, Taloy Sur, Tuba at 9 AM on Thursday, November 25, 2021.
According to Tuba Municipal Police Station Police Major Leonard Danasen, the cadaver was found with gunshot wounds in his head and injuries on several parts of his body by the group of Fred Balansi who was then searching for one of their relatives who has gone missing.
According to Tuba MPS, the victim was identified by his relatives as Akiya Lugares Velasco, 24 years old, and a resident of Purok 22, San Carlos Heights, Baguio City.
The victim, based on media reports, was personally identified by his sibling, Russel Rain Velasco Banta, through the photo shown to him by police.
It was clarified that a photo was used for the identification of the victim as its RT-PCR test result is still pending and that he is still not allowed to be visited at the Cosmopolitan Funeral for said reason.
As narrated by Banta, the last time they had a talk with Akiya was on Wednesday, November 24, through a call, in which the latter informed him that he was at Camp 7, Baguio City, and was in stable condition.
Meantime, the family of the victim is now calling for a thorough investigation of the said incident as they seek justice for the death of Akiya.
They said that if Akiya has done something wrong, it could have been better if he was put in jail.
Relative to this, Akiya, as reported by Bombo Radyo Baguio, has been listed as high-value individual based on police records.
Bombo Radyo Baguio added that Akiya was arrested by police on April 22, 2021, with a companion at the Bokawkan Road during a buy-bust operation.
