Housewife dies after she was hit by a dump truck in Tabuk

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A 54-year-old housewife in the city died after she was hit by a dump truck along the Kalinga – Mountain Province National Road in FF Cruz Bulanao at around 7:55 AM on August 30.

Traffic Management Unit – Tabuk Chief Police Lieutenant John Macli-ing identified the victim as a certain Criscensia Dupli, who is a resident of FF Cruz Bulanao. Meantime, the driver of the SINO Truck is identified as Albino Asoy, 27, and a resident of Dangoy, Lubuagan.

According to the investigator of the case, Police Staff Sergeant Miller Cuesta, the sister of the victim narrated that the truck was coming from the direction of Bulanao proper going to Calanan when the incident happened.

She said that the victim was on her way to the store past 7 o’clock in the morning and she was walking on the roadside when she was suddenly hit by the approaching truck.

Dupli sustained serious injuries and was rushed by the Bureau of Fire Protection to Kalinga Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival at around 8:10 in the morning.

Meantime, in a further investigation, Asoy, the driver, after the woman was hit, immediately went to the Traffic Management Unit office in Appas to surrender himself.

Cuesta said that according to Asoy, the victim was planning to cross the road and he stopped to give her a chance to do so. But when the woman didn’t, he continued driving and it was then he noticed that the victim was hit by the left rear tire of the truck.

“I-clear na kanu [ta] … magna (diay victim) ngem idi haan kanu a nag-proceed [victim], nag-proceed daytoy [truck] santu kanu lang naamwan a naatalan kanu gayam idiay likod na,” Cuesta said.

The incident is still under investigation and the driver is now in the custody of the Tabuk City Police Station.
