Injured NPA in Cagayan clash to face 3 counts of attempted murder

Cagayan, Philippines – While he is recuperating at the hospital, a rebel who was abandoned by his comrades got served with arrest warrant for three counts of murder yesterday, February 15, 2023.


Yusida Orion who is also known as Brown, a Filipino-Japanese was left by his comrades following the 30-minute firefight with the military on February 13 in Baggao, Cagayan.


Two rebels died during the armed encounter, the 5th Infantry Division(ID) reported.

A day after the clash, Orion who was injured was found by the police and the military at Sitio Nangbaggayan, Sta. Margarita, Baggao while they were on a clearing operation.


He was brought to Camp Melchor F Dela Cruz Station Hospital for medical treatment.


Criminal Case


While he was being treated, it was found out that he has a standing arrest warrant for three counts of attempted murder.


Authorities from the San Mariano Police Station then came to serve the said warrant of arrest issued on June 5, 2020.


The suspect’s bail was set at P120,000 for each case.

A former Kabataan Makabayan


According to the 5ID, Orion started as a member of the Kabataan Makabayan, an underground organization while he was studying in college.


It was in 2015 when he became a regular member of the Benito Tesorio Command in Isabela.


Three years later, he was assigned as the Squad Leader of Komiteng Larangan Guerilla Quirino-Nueva Vizcaya until he became the Secretary of the Regional Sentro De Gravidad, Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley.
