Architecture student from Rizal is Miss Kalinga 2023

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Angelina Dupaya, an architecture student shone more brightly than 14 other beauties during the Miss Kalinga 2023 pageant, thus winning the most coveted crown and bagging four minor awards.


Dupaya held hands with Tabuk City’s Dori Loren Domingo while closing her eyes in a dramatic winner reveal and only opened her eyes upon hearing her name proclaimed as the Miss Kalinga 2023.

She was given flowers by Governor James Edduba and then donned with a winner’s sash by her wife, Elsie Edduba. Dupaya was also seen teary-eyed upon receiving her tiara from the longest reigning Miss Kalinga beauty queen Lyka Dalanao.


Dupaya was also named Queen of the Ramp, Best in Creative Attire, Best in long gown and Best in Native Attire.


Winning answer


Asked about their own definition of the word ‘Kalinga Lumin-awa’, the tagline of the current provincial officials led by Governor Edduba, the Rizalian beauty confidently answered the question, emphasizing that the word means ‘feel at peace’.


“Kalinga Lumin-awa is about peace or ‘feel at peace’. This symbolizes that we, yKalingas are living in prosperity with kindness and of course living with our Kalinga core values which are paniyaw, ngilin and bain. That is a gift of our God in nature and of course to our fellow men,” she stated.


On her win as Kalinga’s most beautiful and most empowered woman, she was given the chance to have a free trip to Phuket Thailand, gift packs, a certificate, and a cash prize.

Tabuk City’s Dori Loren Domingo is the first runner-up, PMA Tanglaw Diwa Class of 1992’s Anele Jane Annogui is the second Runner, Tinglayan’s Kaye Paga is the third Runner-up while Partylandia Event Catering’s Althea Butay is fourth runner-up.


The Miss Kalinga 2023 pageant


The Miss Kalinga pageant has been on a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and only came back during this year’s fourth Bodong Festival and Kalinga’s 28th Founding Anniversary.


Twenty – six beauties applied for the competition but only 15 candidates were chosen to represent the 7 municipalities, the city, and some other sponsors.


A pre-pageant competition was also held on February 7 prior to the big night on February 14.
