“Janssen now available for adult Covid jab in Kalinga”-PHO


Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Provincial Health Office of Kalinga shared in their December 21 COVID-19 status report that Janssen vaccines are now available for adult inoculation in the province.


Provincial Health Officer Dr. Edward Tandingan stated that all unvaccinated adults from 18 years old and above are eligible for Janssen jab, a one-dose vaccine.


“Janssen is a one-dose vaccine (no need for a second dose) - after one injection, considered fully vaccinated yung nag-avail,” the message of the provincial health officer reads.


In PHO’s report, 31,998 doses are allocated for Janssen out of the remaining 37,972 unvaccinated individuals of the 70% target population.

Of the total Janssen allocation, 11,500 doses are for residents of Tabuk City; 4,548 for those in Tinglayan; 4,500 in Pinukpuk; 3,168 in Tanudans; 2,181 in Pasil; 2,174 in Balbalan; and 1,640 in Rizal.


Said COVID-19 vaccine brand was procured through the initiative of the Office of the Governor and PHO to meet public’s demand.

Meanwhile, other vaccine brands such as Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna are likewise available. Interested individuals may avail their preferred vaccine brands through their City or Municipal Health Office or Rural Health Unit.


As of December 19, a total of 117,123 or 76% or the 70% target population in the province already received their first dose while 95,268 individuals or 61% are fully vaccinated.


The health offices remain alert in their vaccination drive, not only aiming to achieve the target by the end of the year, but also to protect the community against the dreaded virus.
