Kabayan, Benguet remains closed to tourists

Kabayan, Benguet Philippines – The Municipality of Kabayan remains closed to tourists as a preventive measure against the surge of Covid-19 cases that might be experienced and a way to ensure safety of the community.


The Municipality of Kabayan is known for its mummies and tourism sites like the third highest mountain in the Philippines, Mount Pulag, the National Museum, Timbak Rock Shelter, Mt. Tabayoc, Tinongchol Burial Rocks and four lakes.

In a report by Philippine Information Agency Benguet, Kabayan Councilor Rex Alwin Aguisan announced on February 22, 2022, that local residents are the only ones allowed to visit some tourist destinations in the town.


The Kabayan Tourism informed that Kabayan residents can visit destinations in the town except Mount Pulag, Mount Tabayoc and the National Museum. The reopening to residents was decided following the declaration of Benguet under alert Level 2 from February 16 to 28.

As of this writing, no decision has been made for the opening of Mount Pulag and that only residents of the area are allowed to enter the vicinity.


As of February 21, Kabayan is classified under low epidemic risk level with only four active cases of Covid-19.
