Kalinga signs MOA for Miss Earth’s evening gown competition 2022

Tabuk City, Kalinga – With the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between the provincial local government unit of Kalinga and Carousel Productions Incorporated, the province is now officially the host for Miss Earth’s long gown competition.


The MOA was signed morning of Thursday, September 29, 2022.


The competition will be held this November 18-19, 2022 at the Kalinga Sports Center.

20-25 Miss Earth delegates will come to Kalinga on said date. It is expected that the event will not only showcase the province's rich culture and traditions but also promote local tourism destinations.


The news of holding the said competition on Kalinga was earlier relayed by Provincial Tourism Officer and Local Cultural Affairs Officer Lorraine Ngao-i.


The tourism officer also relayed that the provincial government was tasked to select sponsors in the locality.


The sponsors, who include owners of local businesses in Kalinga, will also be tapped as judges.

The provincial tourism officer said the pageant’s objectives of promoting environmental awareness, conservation, and social responsibility suits the bid of the province to promote sustainable tourism.


Apart from that, putting the province in the limelight through the pageant will popularize its tourism offers, and introduce Kalinga culture and its weaving industry to the world.

What is Miss Earth pageant?

Miss Earth pageant is considered as one of the major international beauty pageants along with Miss World, Miss International and Miss Universe.


According to its website, the pageant is an International Environmental event channeling the beauty pageant entertainment industry as an effective tool to promote environmental awareness.


“Because many people admire and aspire to be a beauty queen, Carousel Productions, Inc. believed beauty queens would be a good and effective advocate of worthy causes. To give life to this vision, Carousel Productions Inc. organized and launched in 2001 the MISS EARTH Beauty Pageant, a beauty event whose raison d'etre was to have its candidates and winners actively promote and get involved in the preservation of the environment and the protection of Mother Earth,” it said.


“Apart from a strong emphasis on environmental protection programs, MISS EARTH also aims to showcase and promote various tourist destinations,” they added.
