Kalinga tops Regional, places 4th in National Ranking in 2020 CMGP Awards

Tabuk City, Kalinga-The Provincial Government of Kalinga during the Annual Reform Governance Awarding on December 9, 2020 garnered Special Award from the Department of Interior and Local Government after topping the Regional Ranking and placing 4th in the National Ranking on the overall performance assessment on Absorptive Capacity for the Fiscal Year 2017, 2019, and 2019 Governance Reform Performance; and Compliance with 2020 CMGP Fund Release Requirements.

The awards were results of implementing Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP) projects.

According to the Provincial Information Office, the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) was recognized most especially for its performance in the implementation of the Laya-Cabaruan Sucbot-Magaogao Provincial Road; Cabaritan-Dugpa Provincial Road; and the Rehabilitation of Bulanao Laya-Balong Provincial Road in Tabuk City, and Pinukpuk, Kalinga.

Barangay Councilor of Cabaruan, Janeth Bangibang, said residents “do not carry our crops atop our heads anymore. Sometimes, our buyers are the ones who go to our farms, and we do not even have to go to them.”

The pandemic did not stop said office to continue their goal towards formulation of comprehensive development, framework and infrastructure plans, programs and projects and feasibility studies in various barangays.

The report implied that in 2020 alone, about 297 projects were validated in accordance with existing Provincial Development and Investment Program (PDIP) policies and guidelines, and qualified projects were included in the 2021 Annual Investment Program. Likewise, 156 implemented projects in various barangays were inspected and reports were submitted as reference for payment.

The office has also come up with its sectoral plans such as Contingency Plan for COVID-19 and Provincial Recovery and Resiliency Program (2020-2022) to help in the combat of the ongoing pandemic.
