Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Provincial Health Office (PHO) under Dr Edward Tandingan assured the province could achieve its target of 70% full COVID-19 vaccination for the 221,563 projected total population by end of November 2021.

This is following the health officer’s statement that ‘we will be receiving massive numbers of vaccines this October, giving an opportunity to cover/vaccinate as many people and as fast as we could.’

As of October 9, 2021, the province has 32% or 50, 397 fully vaccinated individuals while 44% or 68, 067 are yet to receive their second dose.

To attain the goal, 87,028 individuals need to receive the Covid-19 jab.

According to Tandingan, this requires additional vaccinators as thousands of individuals will receive their dose daily.

“We will need many additional vaccinators (in addition to our PNP colleagues na trained on vaccination and possibly BFP and health workers who are working in non-health sector like admin, DepEd, and other PIATF partners) so we could conduct more vaccination sessions per day,” the provincial health officer stated.

In terms of full vaccination among LGUs, Tabuk City has the highest with 39%, Pasil comes next with 33%, Rizal with 32%, Lubuagan with 30%, Balbalan with 27%, Pinukpuk with 23%, Tanudan with 17%, and Tinglayan with 16%.

The office, along with Governor Ferdinand Tubban, renewed the appeal for the public to cooperate with the vaccination program, since this is the government’s way of protecting them against the dreaded virus.
