“Leadership is shared responsibility, symbolizes trust and accountability”: Mayor Dagadag urges groups, associations in Tanudan to lead, sustain livelihoods

TANUDAN, Kalinga — Leadership does not belong solely to elected officials but is also shared with organized community groups working to improve the lives of their members and fellow residents, according to Tanudan Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag.

Dagadag made the statement through Municipal Administrator Atty. Novilyn Matnao-Baclili during the turnover of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) PAMANA Livelihood Program Associations (PLPAs) in Tanudan to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) on August 27 at Davidson Hotel.

According to Dagadag, the transfer of responsibilities from the DSWD to the MSWDO reflects the trust and accountability placed on both the local government and the PLPAs to manage, maintain and sustain the livelihood projects provided through the program.

With the five PLPAs now assuming greater responsibility for their respective enterprises, Dagadag reminded the associations that they must take an active leadership role alongside the LGU in sustaining and expanding their businesses.

“The turnover of responsibilities to the PLP Associations under the LGU-LED framework symbolizes trust and accountability. It signifies that leadership is not confined to elected officials alone but is shared with organized groups who represent the aspirations of our communities. This partnership strengthens our capacity to deliver services, monitor projects, and uphold transparency,” he said.

Dagadag also thanked the individuals and organizations whose efforts helped facilitate the transition and expressed confidence that cooperation among the LGU, associations and community members would help Tanudan overcome challenges.

“With the dedication of our LGU, the leadership of our associations, and the cooperation of our people, Tanudan will continue to rise above challenges and move forward with confidence,” he said.

The turnover formally places the PLPAs in a stronger role in managing and sustaining their livelihood ventures, while the LGU provides support and oversight to help ensure the projects continue to benefit their members and communities.
