LTFRB-CAR opens 3rd route of free ride for Baguio health workers

Baguio City, Philippines-Health workers in this city can now use three routes of 24/7 free ride services with the opening of the Shilan Line Route recently.


Regional Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) -CAR opened the new route 2pm on April 30, 2021.


The third route will traverse Pines City Doctors Hospital - La Trinidad Rd - Baguio Provincial National Rd - Benguet Provincial Capitol - Shilan - Tublay DEPED District Office -Shilan - Benguet Provincial Capitol - Baguio Provincial National Rd - La Trinidad Rd - Pines City Doctors Hospital.


According to LTFRB-CAR, the Free Rides for Healthcare workers is under the Service Contracting Program of the LTFRB and Department of Transportation (DOTr) under the Bayanihan To Recover as Once Act, which aims to continuously provide free transportation service to medical health workers in recognition of their role as today's modern heroes.



The agency further clarified that the health workers who can avail of the free ride is not limited to nurses or doctors, but also other medical professionals, including utility workers in medical centers/clinics/hospitals and auxiliary work force in the health industry. Health care workers need only to present their ID to the driver for easy identification.


The 3rd route followed the opening of the first two routes via Irisan Jeep Parking Area - Elpidio Quirino Highway - Irisan Fire Station - Cooyesan Plaza - F. Yandoc St - Benjamin Salvosa Drive - Shanum St - Abanao St - Elpidio Quirino Hway - Cooyesan Plaza - Irisan Fire Station - Irisan Jeep Parking Area and Pines City Doctors Hospital - Magsaysay Ave - Sto Nino Hospital - Lower P. Burgos - Buhagan Rd - F. Yandoc St - Chuntug - Harisson Rd - BGH - Gov Pack Rd - UP Drive - T.M. Kalaw St - North Drive - Leonard Wood Road - Post Office Loop - Fr Carlos St. - Gen. Luna Road -Magsaysay Ave - Pines City Doctors Hospital.



LTFRB-CAR OIC Regional Director Engr. Lalaine E. Sobremonte hopes that the program will help ease the burden of our health care workers commuting daily to their work place.


The program also aims to help the drivers whose livelihoods were affected by the pandemic.
