Baguio City, Philippines – Mayor Benjamin Magalong on Monday, August 2, 2021, assured Baguio citizens that the city government is prepared and that they have crafted contingency plans against the possible threat of the more contagious Covid-19 virus Delta variant.

In a statement through the Public Information Office of Baguio, the mayor cited that some measures the city government is now doing include strict border restrictions, increase of isolation centers, hospital logistics, and medicine and oxygen reserves in hospitals.

He added that the rules on mass gathering is also strictly being implemented and that the city government is conducting enhanced disinfection, testing, contact tracing, quarantine, lockdowns and continuous vaccination program in the city.

Learning from the experiences of other countries in the South East Asia region, Magalong said the city government is doing its duties and had made thorough preparations.

However, even with said preparations and with plans being implemented, Magalong underscored that it would not be enough without the cooperation of the public.

With this, the city mayor is appealing for the public to cooperate and help the city government, even just abiding with minimum public health standards.

The mayor likewise encouraged the public to follow their vaccination schedule and to complete their dose, since this is the only way possible to avoid serious symptoms.
