Man steals friend’s motorcycle in Cagayan, gets arrested in Tabuk 8 months later

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A 29-year-old man accused of stealing his friend’s motorcycle in Cagayan was arrested in Purok 6, Bulanao on August 12, 2022.

The suspect hidden by the Tabuk police under the name ‘Val’ was nabbed after joint authorities from Tuao, Cagayan and Tabuk City served his arrest warrant for violation of Republic Act 6539 or the Anti-Carnapping Act of 1972.

Police Major Connie Baglinit, PNP Tabuk Information Officer told Guru Press Cordillera that the incident happened when Val went to visit the victim who is also his friend in Tuao on December 15, 2021.

On that day, the suspect and the victim had a drinking session at the latter’s house. When the victim was already drunk, he went to bed.

However, while he was sleeping, Val allegedly took the opportunity to steal the victim’s motorcycle. The suspect was said to have used an improvised key in order to start the vehicle to drive away.

Eight months later, Val’s warrant of arrest was issued by the Regional Trial Court in Tuao, Cagayan with P300,000 bail.
