Updated: May 9, 2022

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Acting Vice-Mayor of Tabuk City, Atty. Zorayda Mia Wacnang is appealing to the citizenry to vote for candidates with satisfactory accomplishments and those who are committed to working for the welfare of the public, even after the May 9 elections.

Wacnang, the highest-ranking city council member, is among the four candidates vying for the Vice-Mayoralty seat, underscored this through her official Facebook page, published on Monday, May 02, 2022.

The Acting Vice-Mayor expressed confidence that she can do the work of the post she is running for, even when she only sat for two terms as a councilor. Her performance, she said, is evident in the measures she passed during her tenure and also in considering her platforms.

Wacnang authored the ordinance operationalizing Freedom of Information in the city government, as well as the grant of hazard pay to the Public Social Workers and Public Social Welfare and Development Workers of the city, and providing financial assistance to Daycare Workers upon retirement or termination of service, among others.

The aspirant likewise acquired enough experience being a former Director of the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal from 2004 to 2007, Legal Officer of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples from 2009 to 2010, and serving as a litigation lawyer, consultant, associate, lecturer, and chief of staff.

Apart from her performance, Wacnang stressed that Tabukeños should check the platforms of the candidates.

“Duma latta nu adda mangikampanya based on issues, based on platforms ti kandidato. Ti makita tatta ket haanen a kampanya ti aramiden. Awanen ti plataporma, awanen ti panag istorya nu anya ti naaramidam. Ket kanyak met a maysa, masapul met a nga kitaen tayo nu anya diay naaramidan iti maysa a kandidato. Aramid ngarud ti pakakitaan,” added the Acting City Vice-Mayor.

Wacnang further called for the local voters to be wise and assess if the candidate/s they will be voting for could contribute to the progress of the city and could actually help the community even after winning the election.

“Kitaen tayo met a apo diay mabalin nga agtrabaho. Damagen tayo, daytoy ba nga kandidato ket agtrabaho nu maelektaran? Makita ba idiay opisina? Daytoy ba a kandidato nu malpas ti panag-aarem ti butus ken malpas ti panagkakampanya, ket adda ba ti aramiden na a pagsayaatan iti Tabuk City, iti ili tayo a Kalinga? Nu malpas ti election ket matalyaw natayo ba? Maasitgan tayo ba nu agkasapulan iti ili? Tulungan dakami apo nga iparaira dagitoy nga idea ken dagitoy a plataporma tapno baliwan tayo met a ti sistema politika tayo,” appealed Wacnang.
