Bontoc, Mt. Province – On Sunday, Jan. 29, at approximately 8:50 p.m., Bontoc police personnel responded to a fatal collision along the national road at SO Khumosey, Bontoc Ili, Bontoc, Mt. Province.
PNP Mt. Province say a head-on collision transpired involving an elf truck and TMX motorcycle.
The rider who sustained life-threatening injuries was transported by responding police officers to Bontoc General Hospital but was sadly pronounced dead on arrival.
The victim was later identified as Almario Nantin Paragas, 31, single, laborer, and a native of Purok 1, Dungo, Aglipay, Quirino but was residing at Sitio Balikian, Bontoc Ili, Bontoc.
A thorough investigation on the main cause of the incident is still in progress, noted the police.
Another collision between a white passenger van and a black pick-up truck happened along Bontoc-Banaue road on the same day.
The passenger van came from Manila and was on its way to Buscalan, Kalinga, while the pick-up vehicle was on its way to Ifugao, the police report showed.
Six passengers, including five individuals from the van and one from the pick-up were rushed to the hospital while the remaining passengers who sustained minor injuries were given first-aid treatment at the incident site.
Authorities are urging all drivers to be cautious while on the road, especially during inclement weather conditions.
