Isabela, Philippines – The apprehension of the national top most wanted person in Isabela is expected to weaken the rebel force, says PRO 2 Regional Director, PBGen. Christopher Birung.
The execution of the operational plan in violations of the gun ban and RA 9516 or "Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act" resulted in the arrest of alias "Bang/Poktong/Frank" at around 5 a.m. on Sept. 22, 2023, in Echague, Isabela.
He is wanted for murder and robbery, both with no bail recommended.
The accused with a DILG reward of P380,000 is the Secretary of Komiteng Probinsya Isabela, Komiteng Rehiyon - Cagayan Valley and is listed in the Periodic Status Report Threat Group (PSRTG) watchlist, reported the PRO 2.
When nabbed, he was caught with direct possession of M16 A1; one unit of M16 A2 POF-USA Model-P-415; one unit of AK; five magazines for M16 rifle; 54 live ammunition for M16 rifle; four magazines for AK; 29 live ammunition for AK; one hand grenade Atis type MK2 HE; one hand grenade M67 HE; one Grenade Rifle HE; one binocular telescope; and other personal belongings.
The apprehension, according to Birung, is a huge breakthrough in the campaign against insurgency and criminality in Cagayan Valley.
"I believe that the apprehension of alias "Bong" will weaken the anti-government troop in Echangue, Isabela and nearby areas of operation. PRO2 will never cease to exert its best effort to put an end to the insurgency problem in the region," he stated.
In the same operation, alias "Ferdy" was also arrested for violation of PD 1829 otherwise known as Penalizing Obstruction of Apprehension and Prosecution of Criminal Offenders.
